Who should attend: occupational safety and health professionals, managers and other employees with basic experience in risk assessment. Format: online sessions and practical exercises. Duration: 24 hours.
Course content: 8 sessions.
1. From theory to practice: risk matrix, hierarchy of controls and common mistakes. 2. Transport and logistics safety: collision, rollover and struck-by risks, routes and engineered safeguards. 3. Working at height: risks of people and objects falling; collective and personal protection. 4. Machinery and equipment: moving parts, pinch points, automation and LOTO. 5. Chemical safety and hazardous substances: SDS, exposure control, ventilation and protective equipment. 6. Confined spaces: oxygen deficiency, hazardous atmospheres, evacuation, permit-to-work and gas testing. 7. JSA: step-by-step analysis of a work activity, its hazards and required safeguards. 8. Preparing a practical project and justifying safety measures for managers and operational teams.
Final assessment: after the course, each participant independently conducts a dynamic risk assessment of a real work activity at their organisation. The submission includes a risk matrix assessment, a JSA and a control plan based on the hierarchy of controls.
Course completion document: upon passing the assessment, participants receive an “ESOSH Accredited Specialist, Level 2” certificate.
